Shalini is a legal professional and digital rights advocate focusing on the intersection of law, technology, and gender-based violence. As the collective’s primary representative, she leads policy engagement and regularly represents CYBHER at regional conferences and as a panellist on digital safety issues.

Shalini organizes on-ground advocacy, having facilitated workshops with the Education Department of Johor Bahru and a State Legislative Assembly member to address gaps in legal redress for victims. She managed the collective’s foundational operations, successfully securing the Numun seed fund to establish the organization , and co-led evidence-gathering initiatives for the #Predatorgram campaign.

Drawing on her background as a Legal Executive handling contracts and litigation, Shalini applies a structured regulatory approach to advocacy. She holds professional certifications in Applied AI Engineering, giving her a unique insight into the technical complexities of the fight for a safer online world.

Dilpreet is an aspiring activist (some may say she already is). She has been a part of the core team of CYBHER since October 2020 and has assisted in numerous cases involving online gender-based violence. Previously, she was actively involved with curating safe spaces within her Sikh community in Gurmat Parchaar Samelan. She is inspired by resilience and kindness.

Shre is a dedicated advocate for online safety and gender equality. While Shre was earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Psychology and Management at Nottingham University, she immersed herself in the Malaysian student activist scene, advocating for sociopolitical issues. This experience paved the way for her role as a researcher at the ASEAN Research Center, where she focuses on impact driven research. Her research interests include Southeast Asian studies, marginalized communities, racial politics and gender studies. Shre is fluent in English, Bahasa Melayu, and Tamil. In her free time, Shre is also a fine art photographer.

SATTYA SHANKARY

Sattya Shankary, is a counsellor currently based in Melbourne, Australia. She began her journey in advocacy while interning at AWAM and assisting her mother to support Indian single mothers in Johor. Sattya is passionate about working with victim survivors of gender-based violence and decolonizing therapy frameworks with her young clients. In her free time, she can be seen at the gym or on her couch catching up on tv shows.
